College Football Kicks Off: Cal vs. Hawai'i Open Thread

The college football season officially gets underway tonight with a game between the California Golden Bears and the Hawai'i Warriors in Sydney, Australia.

Much has been made about the glut of riveting matchups on the opening weekend of college football, but the first game of the 2016 season is in fact tonight.

Cal replaces top NFL draft pick Jared Goff with Texas Tech graduate transfer Davis Webb at QB in their season opening battle against Hawaii, led by first-year head coach Nick Rolovich, in the College Football Sydney Cup in Sydney, Australia.

The game is a Saturday nooner in Sydney, but stateside we’ll get to watch tonight at 7:00pm PDT on ESPN. A crowd of at least 75,000 is expected at ANZ Stadium, and the event will feature "America-style food" and tailgating—surprisingly, something Aussies don’t already do.

If you’re the type of person who would stay home on a Friday night to watch a game between a team that might not make a bowl game and a team that definitely won’t make a bowl game just because college football is BACK (and, I am that type of person), this is your open thread.

GO BRUINS.
