There aren't many games across the college football landscape before Saturday this week. In fact, there are only four.
Tonight, there's a game between #5 Clemson and Georgia Tech on ESPN. So far this season, Clemson hasn't looked like the team they were just a year ago, even though they're still undefeated. Last week, the Tigers trounced South Carolina State 59-0 in a game so lopsided that the teams agreed to play 12 minutes quarters in the second half.
Now, Clemson says that a game like that allows them to help out a fellow South Carolina school which almost closed a few years ago. The reality is all it does is guarantee another W. And, it's games like that which lead people to say that Power 5 schools should not be scheduling games against FCS opponents.
Meanwhile, Georgia Tech tends to play well at night home games at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
Regardless, it's an ACC matchup. So, it should be more fairly matched than Clemson's game last week.
Tomorrow night, there are three games on tap. The first is Wyoming at Eastern Michigan and, realistically, unless you went to either school, you should probably skip that game and catch the first hour of TCU at SMU while you wait to watch the Utes destroy Southern Cal.
But, then again, can the Utes really destroy a team that is self-imploding? Regardless, Lynn Swann, you are on the clock. Will you upstage your predecessor by firing Clay Helton on the tarmac in Salt Lake, rather than at LAX?
