College Football Saturday Open Thread

Week 4’s slate offers plenty of choice appetizers leading up to the main course at 5:00 PDT on ABC.

NCAA Football: Wisconsin at Michigan State
Michigan State will honor former punter Mike Sadler, who died in a car accident this summer, in their midfield logo when they host Wisconsin today.

It’s Stanford day! I can’t blame you if your Stop-McCaffrey tunnel vision didn’t allow you to take in any information about other games and this is the first time you’re hearing about a full slate of college football. Those of you in Southern California will be doing your duty as Bruins and spending the day in Pasadena. For the rest of us ex-pats who no longer reside in the Southland, there are a few good undercard matches leading up to the main event.

#11 Wisconsin at #8 Michigan State, 9:00am PDT, Big Ten Network. I’m not sure how the biggest game of the day nationally got buried on the Big Ten Network, but somehow it did. Both Big Ten teams are undefeated and have knocked off big-time non-conference opponents in LSU and Notre Dame. Get your coffee brewing early, this is going to be a good one. The Spartans are favored by four at home.

#12 Georgia at #23 Mississippi, 9:00am PDT, ESPN. Ole Miss, despite being 1-2, is favored against undefeated Georgia, who scored a 20-yard touchdown on a 4th down with 1:29 left in the game to knock off Missouri last week.

#19 Florida at #14 Tennessee, 12:30pm PDT, CBS. Perhaps the SEC East is decided this afternoon when the quarterback-less Gators travel to Knoxville for a date with the Vols in Neyland Stadium. Florida has won 11 straight against the Vols.

#17 Arkansas vs. #10 Texas A&M, 6:00pm PDT, ESPN. The Razorbacks and the Aggies are both undefeated heading into their yearly matchup in Jerry World. Texas A&M is a six-point favorite.

California at Arizona State, 7:00pm PDT, ESPN 2. Here’s the #Pac12AfterDark matchup to finish off the night, Davis Webb and the Golden Bears will battle Kalen Ballage and the Sun Devils to see who can score more points in a game that promises to have no defense.

Here's the rest of the schedule for College Football today.
