Friday Night College Football Open Thread: #13 Louisville v. Syracuse

Tonight's ACC conference game between Louisville and Syracuse is one of the better meetings of a less-than-stellar week two of CFB, and features the Cardinals' phenom sophomore quarterback, Lamar Jackson.

Welcome to BN's Friday Night College Football Open Thread. After no Thursday night college football--although there was some other football game on NBC--there are two FBS matchups on tap for tonight.

The second game features sophomore quarterback, Lamar Jackson, who tallied eight (!!!) TDs in Louisville's game first half against UNC Charlotte last weekend! More on Jackson in a moment.

Coming off of a 52-13 victory at home over Howard in week one, the Terrapins face a stiffer challenge on the road versus Florida International in Miami.

This will be the second straight week in which the Golden Panthers have played B1G Conference opponents at home. FIU stayed with Indiana University for three quarters last week, leading the Hoosers 13-12 going into the fourth, but the FIU defense surrendered 22 unanswered points in the final quarter, and Indiana took the contest 34-13.

I think Maryland takes this game handily, but you never know. That's why they play the games.

#13 Louisville @ Syracuse, 5:00 p.m. PT ESPN2

Louisville thumped Charlotte last weekend, 70-14, at home. The score was 56-0 at halftime and Lamar Jackson accounted for all eight of those touchdowns, six through the air and two on the ground.

Watch all eight  . . .

Now, some of those were screens where the running back did most of the work . . . but still . . . eight touchdowns in one half! Jackson has received a bunch of way-to-early hype for Heisman based on last week's performance.

Let's see how he does on the road at the Carrier Dome.

Syracuse beat Colgate last week at home, 33-7 in Head Coach Dino Babers' debut for the Orange. Syracuse's quarterback, Eric Dungey, had a nice game of his own, going 34 of 40 for 355 yards and two passing touchdowns.

This should be a fun game to watch!
