2017 NCAA Tournament: First Four Finishes Up Today

The First Four start today with two games in Dayton, OH.

Yesterday in Dayton, Mount St. Mary’s escaped with a one-point win over New Orleans, 67-66. The Mountaineers will face overall top seed and defending champion Villanova in the First Round tomorrow.

In the nitecap, Kansas State got past Wake Forest 95-88 and will now face Cincinnati Friday in Sacramento.

Today, the last today First Four games will be played. First up, we have North Carolina Central playing UC Davis. NC Central was 25-8 this season. The Eagles won both the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships. Their biggest win of the season came against Missouri on the road while they played and lost to LSU, Ohio State and 15-seed Northern Kentucky.

UC Davis went 22-12 in the Big West. The Aggies were second during the regular season and punched their Big Dance ticket with a win over UC Irvine in the Big West Tournament. They beat both CSUN and UCSB twice in Big West play.

Once again, the second game is of interest to Bruin fans as it will see UCLA’s crosstown rival Southern Cal against the Providence Friars. Providence finished the season 20-12 and was tied for third in the Big East. They lost Ohio State and Virginia in non-conference play.

Of course, Bruin fans are familiar with Southern Cal as UCLA took two of three from the Trojans this season.

This game is an obvious case of rooting for your “other favorite” team...you know, the one that’s playing Southern Cal!
