College Football Saturday: Maryland Faces #5 Wisconsin While Navy Hosts UCF

While you’re waiting for the Bruins to kickoff, check out Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo. He’s one of the best coaches in college football today and should be on Dan Guerrero’s short list.

There are two early matchups which should whet your appetite for college football today before the Bruins take the field at 1pm against the Ducks. The first one is the Maryland Terrapins at #5 Wisconsin Badgers. The Badgers made the most of last Saturday’s Top Ten losses to move up to #5 this week and they are hosting the Terps.

It’s hard to tell where the Terps are headed. They have wins against Texas, Towson and Minnesota while they’ve lost to UCF, Ohio State and Northwestern. I think they may start off tough, but will eventually fold like a cheap chair against the Badgers.

Another game worth checking out today is the #10 Oklahoma State Cowboys against the Texas Longhorns. The Longhorns are 3-3 so far this year. Last week, they lost a close game to Oklahoma, 29-24, but this team probably should be 5-1 at this point. Are the Longhorns finally ready for to get on board with Tom Herman’s program? If not, Herman would still be welcome in Westwood!

Seriously, though, the Cowboys are probably going to prove to be too much for the Longhorns this year, but it should be a good game.

When the 9 am games have wrapped up and you’re waiting for the kickoff of the Bruins’ game, I’d suggest checking out #20 UCF at Navy. Ken Niumatalolo is one of the best coaches in college football right now and, sooner or later, a program is going to lure him away from the Naval Academy. He’s a guy who should be on Dan Guerrero’s radar (and probably isn’t), which means he should be on your radar too if he isn’t.

Finally, there’s the 300 lb. elephant in the room which is the Alabama Crimson Tide. They host Tennessee this afternoon and the first 30 minutes of the game should prove to be all you need to see of this one if you don’t want to see Ken Niumatalolo coaching Navy for some reason. Roll Tide!

Here’s your complete schedule of all of today’s action.
