College Football Friday: Florida State Takes On Boston College While Tulane Visits #24 Memphis

But, no college football game is more compelling than Game 3 of the World Series tonight.

If you were like me, you probably missed last night’s Stanford-Oregon State game. The Cardinal were missing Bryce Love and that resulted in Stanford rushing for just 81 yards total. It also resulted in the Cardinal trailing for most of the game despite getting on the scoreboard first with a field goal in the second quarter.

The Beavers took the lead on a twelve-play drive that lasted more than seven minutes and ended in the 3-yard scoring run by Darell Garretson. While the Cardinal would add a field goal before the end of the half, the Beavers still led 7-6 at the half.

Oregon State added another touchdown on the first drive of the third quarter when Thomas Tyner broke off an 18-yard run for a score.

Following a missed Beaver field goal attempt that would come back to haunt them, Stanford kicked their third field goal of the game to close the gap to 5 points, 14-9.

With just 2:24 to go, Stanford began a nine-play, 40-yard drive that culminated in a 3-yard touchdown pass from Keller Chryst to JJ Arcega-Whiteside with just 20 seconds left. The Beavers got the ball back with just 15 seconds left after the Stanford kickoff and they drove to the Stanford 44-yard line with just 3 seconds left.

Garretson threw a Hail Mary downfield that was intercepted by Brandon Simmons and that was the game.

Let’s hope that tonight brings something similar. There are only three games tonight.

The first one features Tulane visiting #24 Memphis in what should be an easy win for the Tigers. That game kicks off at 5 pm PT on CBS Sports Network while the second game also kicks off at 5 pm PT over on ESPN. That should be tonight’s best game because it features a pair of ACC teams when Florida State visits Boston College. I don’t know what the weather looks like for tonight in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, but I’m pretty sure that it’s going to be colder than Tallahassee. So, I’m looking for BC to win this one.

Finally, at 6 pm PT on ESPN2, Tulsa visits SMU in an American Athletic Conference matchup. I’m getting sleepy just writing about this game. I’d suggest leaving the TV tuned to the Seminoles and the Eagles on ESPN.

Then again, I almost forgot that UCLA alum Dave Roberts and his Dodgers are playing in Game 3 of the World Series tonight, too. Even though, I’m a lifelong Yankee fan, I’m thinking that you may just want to skip the football altogether tonight and watch the Dodger game.

This is your College Football Friday and World Series Game 3 open thread.
