College Football Thursday: South Florida on the Hunt For New Year’s Six Bowl

NCAA Football: Houston at South Florida Jonathan Dyer-USA TODAY Sports

Remember Charlie Strong? I think Tom Herman has erased any memory Texas fans have of this individual, but he’s the head coach of the University of South Florida Bulls, a team currently in control of it’s own destiny. They’re taking it one game at a time, especially since tonight’s match up could be considered a trap game by many.

Why? Because the #23 Bulls are taking on the 2-8 Tulsa Golden Hurricanes, a game that should be an easy win but could easily cause the Bulls to lay an egg. Add that to the fact that Strong is rumored to be a frontrunner for the Florida job, and it’s easy to get distracted.

USF had their first loss of the season on November 4 to Houston by a heartbreaking four points, but turned it all around against U Conn the following week. Quarterback Quinton Flowers went on to set a school record for total yards, and immediately the program was back on track.

All that’s left for the Bulls is to beat Tulsa and Central Florida the day after Thanksgiving, and we might be seeing Coach Strong on the national stage once again.

Here is the full listing of tonight’s games:
