College Football Bowl Season Begins With Five Bowl Games Today

It’s Bowl-a-palooza today with five football games to kick off the start of bowl season.

First up this morning is the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. This game has the Troy Trojans facing the North Texas Mean Green on ESPN at 10 am.

Yeah, it’s the “other Trojans” playing in a 3rd tier bowl game. But no self-respecting Bruin fan can be expected to like watching any team that calls themselves the Trojans. So, if you opt to watch this game while waiting for today’s UCLA Men’s Basketball game against Cincinnati, rooting for the Mean Green is required.

Another early bowl game today features the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers against the Georgia State Panthers at 11:30 am PT. This game looks like a mediocre matchup between two mediocre teams. A Hilltopper win would give WKU wins in 4 straight bowl games for the first time. Personally, I say skip this one.

The best bowl game of the day kicks off at 12:30 pm when #25 Boise State Broncos play the Oregon Ducks in the Las Vegas Bowl. Yeah, there’s no title sponsor on this year’s game. Unfortunately, this game kicks off just as the Bruins are tipping off. So, maybe, you should flip over at halftime and after the Bruin game is finished.

This afternoon, the Marshall Thundering Herd faces the Colorado State Rams in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl at 1:30 pm PT. Yeah, this one is basically as bad as it sounds.

And, it doesn’t get much better as the day goes on. The final bowl game today is the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl between the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders and the Arkansas State Red Wolves.
