Whittingham’s .909 winning percentage in bowl games is the NCAA all-time best. He’s 10-1 in bowl games. That’s pretty impressive.
The Utes haven’t lost a bowl game since the 2010 Las Vegas Bowl.
Meanwhile, the Mountaineers finished the regular season in 5th place in the Big 12. They are 7-5 overall and 5-4 in their conference. Mountaineer coach Dana Holgorsen is 2-3 in bowl games.
Utah should win this one.
Northern Illinois finished 2nd in the MAC Western Division with an 8-4 record overall and a 6-2 record in conference play. Meanwhile, Duke tied for fourth in the ACC Coastal with a 6-6 overall record and 3-5 record in conference play.
Duke is led by head coach David Cutcliffe, who is 1-3 in bowl games since becoming the Blue Devils head coach. Across the field, the Huskies are led by head coach Ron Carey. Carey has compiled a record of 44-23 with Northern Illinois, but he is 0-4 in bowl games.
This one will probably be a close game, but Duke has faced tougher competition all season in the ACC. So, look for a Blue Devil win.
That takes us to today’s top game, which, of course, features UCLA against Kansas State in the Cactus Bowl at 6 pm PT.
