The UCLA Bruin Baseball team (12-11; 5-2 Pac 12) is riding a six game winning streak. To match the six game losing streak before it. The young Bruins are maturing before our eyes, and took over game one against the Arizona State Sun Devils (11-13, 1-6 Pac 12) in the Valley of the Sun, 9-3. The Bruins made a 4-3 game going into the 9th a laugher, scoring five runs in the top of the ninth, making things academic for the ASU in the bottom half of the frame.
Griffin Canning got the win in a workingman like effort. Scott Burke pitched some good relief, and Jake Bird made a nice appearance in the 9th to end the game for the Bruins. UCLA is scoring runs in bunches, something that eluded the Bruins earlier in the season.
Tonight, at 6:30 p.m. PT, Moises Ceja (1-1, 2.39 ERA) will take the hill for the Bruins. I like the Saturday senior leadership. For ASU, we will see Chaz Montoya (2-1, 4.76 ERA), a freshman lefty.
The Bruins are looking for a road series win. I say that they get it.
No TV, but follow along via UCLA internet streaming audio with Jon Ramey and Tim Wilhelm. Or check the live stats.
