This morning, the UCLA Athletic Department has finally revealed the new look for the Bruins football uniforms from Under Armour.
Overall, they maintain a very traditional look with the UCLA Stripe in the right spot and of the proper length and the colors are extremely consistent. There is no navy blue anywhere on the uniform, not even in the script on the helmets. And, that’s a good thing because we have just one color blue and it isn’t navy. Let’s leave the navy blue to UC Berkeley!
In that respect, we are the anti-Oregon with just 3 colors: the revamped “Powderkeg Blue”, the “Mighty Gold” and white.
The only way these could have potentially been any better would be to have used Clarendon font for the numbers. That said, after hearing how the design team created the numeric font using series of triangles symbolic of the John Wooden Pyramid of Success, I’m willing to look beyond that.
They were revealed on the official site and Twitter this morning. Here are a few of the tweets that included pictures of the uniforms along with the individual images.
That traditional look you can't beat.

Moving forward, the helmets will be the only thing with a tail.
The tail will remain on our helmets but it will now be in "Powderkeg Blue" to match the rest of the uniform.#GoBruins pic.twitter.com/BHmqD5wow1

We conclude with a video from UCLA Athletics breaking down the various components of the new uniform.
The new uniforms will, of course, be on display at the Rose Bowl later today as part of the Bruin Viewin’ season ticket holder event. So, if you’re a season ticket holder, you can head over to Pasadena to see the new unis up close and even have your picture taken with them while enjoying Remember the Titans on the Rose Bowl big screen. Gates open at 5:30 pm.
Jerseys will be the only merchandise available for sale at the event.
Go Bruins!!!
