Today UCLA got a 2019 recruit, likely a wide receiver but definitely an athlete, in Jordan Patterson.
Patterson is all of 6-3, 195 pounds and could play multiple positions in college. He worked out at corner at the UCLA camp but said he was recruited to play safety and receiver. His natural athleticism for such a big bodied defensive back really jumped out to us and his upside is obvious.
He's a fluid athlete and plays with a nice physical edge to him. It will be fun to watch him with the pads on this coming season and with two years to develop, he has a chance to end up a very special player by the time he's ready to enroll in college.
The nicest thing about him may be that he LOVES UCLA.
"UCLA is my dream school, it's the school I've always wanted to go to since I was little," Patterson said moments ago. I love the school, the coaching staff and it's a great fit for me both academically and from a football standpoint.
. . .
"I wanted to commit to UCLA right when they offered me following the camp," Patterson said. "Like I said, this is my dream school and where I always wanted to go so I just didn't see a need to wait when I knew what I wanted.
Even if the kid is only a rising junior in High School and his position is not even set, it is great to have a kid so in love with UCLA that he wants to commit early.
Go Bruins!
