UCLA-Notre Dame Basketball Rivalry To Be Renewed

When I was a student, UCLA always seemed to play Notre Dame in basketball on Super Bowl Sunday. You would go to the Bruins game and then go watch the Super Bowl.

That tradition ended under Ben Howland when he decided to stop scheduling a non-conference opponent for the weeks we played Southern Cal.

But, today, the UCLA Athletic Department has announced that they have signed a home-and-home agreement with the University of Notre Dame visiting Pauley Pavilion on December 8, 2018. The Bruins will travel to South Bend in December 2019.

It’s something of weird relationship Bruin fans have with Golden Domers. We love them at least once a year during football season, but we hate them come basketball season because the Irish ended the Bruins’ 88-game winning streak on January 19, 1974.

Overall, the Bruins lead the series 28-20.

Go Bruins!!!
