College Football Saturday: #11 Michigan vs. #17 Florida Highlights Today’s Early Games

Meanwhile, in Pac-12 action, Southern Cal Hosts Western Michigan. Go Broncos!

Welcome to the first full Saturday of the 2017 college football season! While most of the schedule today pits conference powers against much weaker opponents, there are a few early games today that make it worth it to spend your Saturday watching college football.

Things kick off this morning when the defending national champion Clemson Tigers host Kent State at 9 am PT. Meanwhile in Happy Valley, Pennsylvania, the #6 Nittany Lions host the Akron Zips. The other 9 am game of note will be played in Austin, Texas where the Longhorns will take on the Maryland Terrapins.

But, the early game of the day won’t kick off until 12:30pm PT when #11 Michigan squares off against #17 Florida at Jerry World in Arlington, Texas. For some reason, the Wolverines have chosen to wear Nike Color Rush Maize uniforms which look uglier than most of Oregon’s uniforms. Jim Harbaugh’s team will likely benefit from the fact ten Florida players have been suspended for the game including the Gators’ top running back Jordan Scarlett and top receiver Antonio Callaway.

In the Pac-12, the most interesting early game will take place across town when Western Michigan visits Southern Cal. The Broncos were the surprise of the college football season last year, but PJ Fleck has left Kalamazoo for the University of Minnesota, which means the biggest question surrounding the Broncos this year is “Can new head coach Tim Lester duplicate Fleck’s success?” At least, this afternoon, Lester has the fully unwaivering support of every Bruin fan as his team takes on #4 Southern Cal on Pac-12 Networks at 2:15 pm today.

Here’s the full schedule for the day so you can plan your viewing appropriately.
