2018 NCAA Tournament: #16 UMBC Upsets #1 Virginia

Is your bracket busted yet?

The UMBC Retrievers became the first 16-seed in NCAA Men’s Tournament history to defeat a 1-seed when they upset the Virginia Cavaliers yesterday, 74-54.

With that, a team that many expected to, at least, make it to the National Championship game is out and the tournament moves on to the Second Round starting today.

The good news from this for Bruin fans is that, now, Tony Bennett’s team is done in the tournament. So, if UCLA is pondering a change, he would be able to talk to the Bruins.

Meanwhile, the Second Round starts off today with a game between Alabama and Villanova. That game is followed by Rhode Island versus Duke at about 11:40 am. The rest of today’s games look to be good ones as well as Kentucky, Kansas, Gonzaga and Michigan all play today.
