Buckle up everyone, todays slate of college football games will blow you away... Or maybe not.
At 4:30 PM PT on ESPNU, will be the the 4-1 Georgia Southern Eagles who travel to San Marcos, Texas to take on the 1-4 Texas State Bobcats. Both teams have potent offenses, but Texas State is giving up 397 yards per contest. Yikes.
Georgia Southern doesn’t like to throw the ball all that much, as they’re only averaging 80.6 passing yards per game. However, they’ll destroy your defense on the ground where they average 275.2 rushing yards per contest. Considering the fact that the Texas State Bobcats allow 168.4 yards on the ground per game, they’ll have their work cut out for them on defense.
The Eagles come in winners of two straight, and will look to run their winning streak to 3 against a pretty weak opponent. College football has proven to be unpredictable though, let’s get weird.
Also starting at 4:30 PM PT on ESPN, the Texas Tech Red Raiders travel to Fort Worth, Texas to take on the TCU Horned Frogs. This is a contest between two 3-2 teams who look to right the ship.
Texas Tech has an high octane offense that averages a whopping 591.4 total yards and 407.6 passing yards per game. These numbers are crazy, but then you see that the Red Raiders give up 447.6 yards per game. It will be interesting to see how they fare against a Horned Frogs defense that allows 303.6 total yards per contest.
As for TCU’s offense, they pile up 414.8 total yards per game and have a balanced attack. They average 187 yards on the ground to combat their 227.8 passing yards per game average, This game definitely has the makings of a shootout in Texas.
Much like NFL Thursday night football, CFB Thursday is usually a let down.
