College Football Saturday: Can #12 Syracuse Knock Off #3 Notre Dame?

There aren’t very many good matchups among today’s early games to hold you over until today’s Crosstown Showdown between the Bruins and Southern Cal.

The best early game today is probably the game between the #12 Syracuse Orange and the #3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 11:30 am PT on NBC. What makes this game even more interesting is that, despite being a “home game” for the Irish, it’s being played at Yankee Stadium. The Irish have even shown off a special NY Yankees-inspired uniform for this game.

The bigger question, of course, is can the Orange upset the Irish? One thing is for sure: If the Irish lose wearing these unis, they will NEVER see the light of day again.

The next most interesting early game will kick off at 9 am PT and feature the #22 Northwestern Wildcats visiting the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Northwestern is looking to wrap up the Big 10 West while Minnesota needs a win to become bowl-eligible.

Another good one could be the 9 am game between the #10 Ohio State Buckeyes and the Maryland Terrapins. The Terps need a win to become bowl-eligible under interim head coach Matt Canada while the Buckeyes are fighting to get back into the Top Four to make the College Football Playoff.
