College Football Late Saturday: #16 Iowa St. Visits #15 Texas in a Big 12 Battle

Meanwhile, Cincinnati meets UCF in another game between a pair of Top 25 teams.

Well, the annual Crosstown Showdown will soon be in the books and I’m either elated because we won or bummed because we lost, but I can’t tell you which because I’m writing this in Lot 1 at the Rose Bowl while tailgating. Hopefully, we’re all happy right about now.

But, the rest of today’s games won’t wait for the Bruins and the Trojans to finish, so let’s look at today’s late games.

The late games look better on paper than the early ones and the best of the bunch is probably the game between the #15 Texas Longhorns and the #16 Iowa St. Cyclones. This game will air on the Big Ten Network at 5:00 pm PT. With both of these teams sitting at 5-2 and are tied for third in in the Big 12. The winner will likely be tied with the winner of Oklahoma-West Virginia after they play next Friday.

The second best late game today will likely be between the #24 Cincinnati Bearcats at the #11 UCF Knights at 5pm PT on ABC. Yeah, Cincinnati is now in the Top 25. This one should be a really good game between two AAC teams.

My original third choice for tonight’s games has been postponed. That, of course, is the Big Game between Stanford and UC Berkeley. This game was postponed yesterday due to smoke and poor air quality in Northern California from the Camp Fire. It’s been rescheduled for December 1st. This game will not have any effect on who wins the Pac-12 North at this point. So, it won’t affect the Pac-12 Championship Game.

So, what else should you consider watching tonight? How about another #Pac12AfterDark game between the Arizona Wildcats and the #8 Washington State Cougars at 7:30 pm on ESPN? Arizona can’t knock the Cougars out of the Pac-12 North race as that will come down to next weekend’s Apple Cup game, but it will be interesting to see which Wildcat team shows up.

Here’s all of today’s late games.
