Tonight, we have two football games to watch, beginning with the Louisville Cardinals visiting the #13 Syracuse Orange at 4:30 pm PT. If you thought things were bad in Westwood, Louisville has a 2-7 record which includes a six-game loss streak and there are no indicators that their luck changes tonight. Syracuse is running a solid offense, ranking 15th in the country and putting up an average of 478 yards per game. Freshman kicker Andre Szmyt is actually the top scorer in the country, with 114 points on the board this year and an average of just over 12 points per game. He is perfect on PATs and has only missed two field goals. Additionally, Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey is one of the last ten finalists for the Unitas Golden Arm Award, completing 61.2% of his passes this year for just over 2,000 yards. Louisville is more than likely going to be 2-8 by the time they head back home.
Also, in a preview of what could be this year’s Mountain West Championship and a rematch of last year’s championship, the #23 Fresno State Bulldogs will be visiting the Boise State Broncos at 7:30 pm PT. Both teams bring solid quarterbacks to the table, with Fresno State’s Marcus McMaryion ranking 8th in the country in passing efficiency and Boise State’s Brett Rypien ranking 9th in passing yards per game. McMaryion is having a monster season, completing just over 70% of his passes for 2,416 yards and 20 touchdowns and only three interceptions this season. He’s also put up seven touchdowns on the ground and another 157 rushing yards. Rypien is also having his best season, throwing for over 300 yards in six games this year. Fresno State will be attempting to right the wrongs of last year when they lost the Mountain West Championship to Boise State.
