Yesterday’s games were certainly high scoring games as five of the six teams playing scored at least 27 points and four of the six teams scored 35 points or more.

Today, Bowl Week continues with three more games and these look to be some pretty good matchups as well.

First up today is the Music City Bowl which features the Purdue Boilermakers and the Auburn Tigers at 10:30 am PT. This game may be the least appealing game today. After all, Auburn is 7-5 while Purdue is just 6-6. The Tigers finished the regular season just 3-5 in the SEC, which was good enough to take fifth in the SEC West. Meanwhile, the Boilermakers finished in a three-way tie for second in the Big Ten West behind Northwestern. Auburn is a 3.5 point favorite in this one.

At 2:15 pm PT today, the #16 West Virginia Mountaineers will take on the #20 Syracuse Orange in the Camping World Bowl in Orlando. West Virginia will be without quarterback Will Grier as well as wide receiver Gary Jennings Jr. But the Orange will also be missing key defenders Alton Robinson and McKinley Williams. Despite that the Orange are a 3-point favorite in this one.

Tonight, Matt Campbell, one of the up and coming young coaches in the FBS, brings his #24 Iowa St. Cyclones to the Alamo Bowl where they will meet the #13 Washington State Cougars. The Cougs just missed making one of the New Year’s Six bowl games. We could probably argue that the Pac-12 Conference should have done more to lobby the College Football Playoff committee to include the Cougars at #12, but, at this point, that doesn’t matter. Wazzou is just a 2.5-point favorite in this one. I don’t think it will be that close, but, of course, #Pac12AfterDark could be a factor.
