Good morning, ladies and gentleman! Welcome to this rainy edition of What’s Bruin. The UCLA sports scene might be quiet from the outside, but it’s always buzzing on the inside!
The big news is that Caleb Wilson has announced that he will forgo his senior season and enter the NFL Draft.
Wilson is currently projected to be among the top tight ends taken in the draft, with mock drafts currently having him taken between the second and third rounds. All of us at Bruins Nation want to thank Caleb for being a truly great representative of the school both on and off the field, and wish him well as he moves on to this next chapter in his career.
UCLA Men’s Basketball
Sophomore guard Jaylen Hands took home the coveted UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week award for his performance on, and off the floor. Hands averaged 10.5 points, and 10.5 assists per game in the Bruins two victories last week. Hands chipped in a career-best 11 assists in an 80-61 throttling over Hawaii on November 28th and came back to tally 17 points and 10 assists in his first career double-double in UCLA’s win over Loyola Marymount. Congrats, Jaylen!
The Bruins recently picked up three HUGE NLI’s from three talented gymnasts. UCLA got signed letters of intent from Jordan Chiles (U.S. National Team member), Frida Esparaza (Mexican National Team), and Kalyany Steele (USA Championships competitor). These three ladies will certainly bolster the Bruins title chances for years to come.
And that’ll wrap up this edition of What’s Bruin. Be safe!
