After placing second in the San Francisco regional, the UCLA women’s golf team will now compete in the NCAA Championship in Stillwater, Oklahoma this weekend. Freshman Patty Tavatanakit won her third straight tournament (finishing 8-under 208) and fourth of the season to help the Bruins advance.
UCLA shot 4-under 860 for the three-day event. Tavatanakit ties teammate Lilia Vu (2016-2017 and 2017-2018) and Charlotte Mayorkas (2003-2004) for the most collegiate victories in a single season while at UCLA.
The Bruins will now face the top teams in the country at Karsten Creek Golf Club, home to the Oklahoma State golf team. Today, Saturday, and Sunday will feature stroke play beginning at 5:30 am PT, with the last tee time each day at 11:50 am PT. The top 15 teams and nine individuals will advance to the final round of stroke play on Monday, May 21, with a 9:30 am PT tee time.
The top eight teams will advance to quarterfinal and semifinal match play on Tuesday, May 22, beginning at 5:00 am PT with the championship on Wednesday, May 23. Live coverage of the final round of stroke play and all rounds of match play will be televised live on the Golf Channel.
