I mean....
Look, I signed up to write this article, and I knew there was a good chance I’d have to write something to get you interested in college football after watching another uninspiring UCLA performance, and lo and behold, that’s what happened.
Looking over today’s games, there are some good matchups in the early slate. Of course, my personal favorite is the battle of the undefeated squads, as the Syracuse Orangemen travel to play the Clemson Tigers at 9:00 AM PST. But, if you’re looking for what should be an actual good game, your focus in the early shift should be the matchup between the #12 West Virginia Mountaineers and #25 Texas Tech Red Raiders. West Virginia has looked the part of a Big 12 contender, with quarterback Will Grier looking like a potential Heisman candidate. Meanwhile, Texas Tech has rebounded nicely from its opening loss to Ole Miss, and its road dismantling of the Oklahoma State Cowboys is one of the more impressive wins of the year thus far.
The noon slate has a host of, well, let’s go with interesting games. Last year’s true national champions, the Central Florida Knights, will take on the Pittsburgh Panthers, aka the most important team in college football (this is a Shutdown Fullcast joke, you should listen to that) in a game that probably won’t be close in the slightest. The Texas Longhorns are going to try and prove they’re actually good at football this year by not faceplanting on the road against the Kansas State Wildcats. The Georgia Bulldogs are probably going to send the Tennessee Volunteers back to that time period where they didn’t teach evolution in schools.
Honestly, the early games aren’t super great, and after last night, I wouldn’t blame you if you decided to not watch football this morning.
There’s other stuff if you want to watch, I guess. The Ryder Cup is happening. I hear that’s a thing. There’s a host of Premier League games going on this morning, highlighted by Chelsea at Liverpool (LET’S GO LIVERPOOL I BELIEVE IN THE FIGHTING KLIPP KLOPPS!) while the Madrid Derby also kicks off between Real and Atletico Madrid. Or maybe you want to go watch a movie or something. Black Panther is on Netflix now. Maybe go watch that.
