College Football Late Saturday: Southern Cal Visits Stanford Tonight

The Trojans will take on the Cardinal this evening. Can neither team win?

There are a few potential gems in today’s late games. The first one kicks off at 4pm PT when the #2 Clemson Tigers visit College Station to take on the Texas A&M Aggies.

There’s little doubt that Dabo Sweeney will have his guys ready to play in a hostile environment. Meanwhile, Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies will have a much tougher game than last week’s 59-7 thrashing of the Northwestern State Demons. Heck, I had to look up where Northwestern State actually is. It turns out the school is located in Natchitoches, Louisiana, but, no, that’s not the same school that Bobby Boucher went to.

Anyway, Clemson crushed Furman last week, 48-7, and I expect the Tigers to come out ahead in this one.

One of the last games to kick off tonight will be between the #15 Michigan State Spartans and the Arizona State Sun Devils in Tempe. So, on one hand, you have Mark Dantonio and the Spartans. On the other, you’ve got Herm Edwards and the Sun Devils. When you mix in a little #Pac12AfterDark, you’ve got a recipe for a really entertaining game. At the very least, you should probably tune in to this one when tonight’s most interesting game is over.

The most interesting game tonight is an early season Pac-12 game featuring the Southern Cal Trojans and the Stanford Cardinal. This is the part of the article where I might normally comment that my second favorite team is whomever is playing Southern Cal, but when the team playing the Trojans is Stanford, I think the best thing we can root for is a tie because I’m not sure I want either of these teams to win. But I guess since overtime rules will prevent a tie from happening, we should root for the Cardinal to hand Southern Cal a conference loss.
