Slowly, but surely teams are being eliminated from the NCAA Tournament. One of yesterday’s victims was the defending champion Villanova Wildcats, who lost to the Purdue Boilermakers. So, if it turns out that Jay Wright is interested in the UCLA head coaching job, he’s now available to discuss coming to Westwood. Bill Self is also free to talk to the Bruins now because the Kansas Jayhawks lost yesterday to the Auburn Tigers.
One of today’s games is Virginia vs. Oklahoma. If the Oklahoma Sooners eliminate the Virginia Cavaliers, Tony Bennett will also be able to start negotiating with the Bruins. Of course, if the Cavaliers win, we could be in for a few more weeks before UCLA names a new coach.
The two remaining Pac-12 teams are also in action today. In fact, the Washington Huskies play in what may be today’s best game when they face the North Carolina Tar Heels. Then, in today’s last game, the Oregon Ducks will battle the UC Irvine Anteaters.
