2019 College Football Playoff National Championship: Rivals Alabama and Clemson Meet Again

While Clemson is making a case for dominance, Alabama will be looking for their 7th title under head coach Nick Saban.

Tonight, the 5th national champion under the College Football Playoff will be crowned as the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Clemson Tigers face each other for the fourth year in a row and the third time in the national championship game.

College football fans are in for one heck of a game as Clemson looks to unseat the reigning Tide for the second time in three years. It’s an even match-up with top quarterbacks throwing to top receivers and talented running backs carving up the field in between.

Alabama is favored by 5 points, but it’s definitely anyone’s game. The Tide have two quarterbacks with championship experience in Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts, but it’s likely that Tagovailoa will be commanding the offense barring disaster. True freshman Trevor Lawrence is at the helm for the Tigers and has a chance to make his case as the #1 quarterback in the country with his performance tonight.

We may not see two teams like this again in our lifetime. The Alabama dynasty is something for the ages and head coach Nick Saban will definitely go down as one of the greatest coaches in college football history. If he wins tonight, it will be a record-setting seventh championship, passing fellow Alabama coach Bear Bryant with the most titles in their career.

But don’t sell Clemson short. Head coach Dabo Swinney is building an empire of his own, and neither coach is sorry for the repeat match up. While the debate continues about the current playoff system and whether or not more teams should be added, I expect this game is going to go down to the wire with the players leaving everything on the field.
