College Football Saturday: #6 Oklahoma Faces #11 Texas in Red River Shootout

Will this rivalry game be a close game or will it be more like a Red River Blowout?

It’s another College Football Saturday. UCLA has this week off which, after last week’s loss to Oregon State, reminds me of that line from the end of the movie WarGames.

“Strange game. The only winning move is not to play.” That movie quote just seems appropriate right now.

So, while UCLA’s bye week may be the closest thing the Bruins get to a win for the rest of the season, the rest of college football rolls on.

Indeed, it does in a big way. After all, the early game of the day features the #6 Oklahoma Sooners taking on the #11 Texas Longhorns in the Red River Shootout at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. It may not be a Top Ten matchup but, if the polls are to be believed, it should be a great game. That said, I’m not convinced Texas is there yet and I think the Longhorns not only get exposed, but also embarrassed by the Sooners. In fact, I think Oklahoma wins by enough to move into the Top Four. This game kicks off at 9 am on FOX.

Meanwhile, at 12:30 pm PT, CBS has the only other early game featuring a pair of Top 25 teams when the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide visits the #24 Texas A&M Aggies. How the Aggies are still in the Top 25 has baffled some this week, leading to speculation that some in the media were trying to give Bama a win over a Top 25 opponent. This one won’t be very close. Roll Tide.

When that game becomes a blowout, the game between the Florida State Seminoles and the #2 Clemson Tigers could be a better game over on ABC and also starting at 12:30 pm PT.

Looking closer to home, the #18 Arizona State Sun Devils host the Washington State Cougars in a Pac-12 matchup. This game won’t be seen by many in the country as it will air on Pac-12 Networks. It’s a bit of a surprise that this one wasn’t picked up by one of the bigger networks. That’s probably to something to do with Wazzou’s losses to UCLA and Utah.

Let’s look at today’s complete schedule:
