College Football Saturday: Alabama Looks to Get Back in CFP Picture

The Crimson Tide need to beat Mississippi State to have a chance of moving back into the CFP Top Four.

After last week’s loss to the LSU Tigers, the Alabama Crimson Tide would be on the outside looking in at the College Football Playoff if the season was over. Instead, Bama will look to try to find a way back into the CFP starting with today’s game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Today’s game shouldn’t be much of a problem for the Crimson Tide, given the fact that the Bulldogs are just 4-5 so far, but you never know. You can find this game on ESPN.

Assuming Bama wins their game, their best chance to get back in the playoff picture would be if the #12 Auburn Tigers can beat the #4 Georgia Bulldogs at 12:30 pm PT on CBS. Of course, that assumes that the Tigers or the Oregon Ducks wouldn’t leap over the Crumson Tide and replace Georgia as the fourth-ranked team.

The #2 Ohio State Buckeyes also play at 12:30 pm today when they visit the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on the Big Ten Network. This should be the Buckeyes’ easiest game on their schedule. It would be a surprise if Ohio State doesn’t win this one by at least 60 points.

The #3 Clemson Tigers are also on the docket at 12:30 pm. Their game is a little more difficult than the Buckeyes. That’s because they will be facing the 7-2 Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The first of their two losses came in a shootout against Louisville while the second one was a road loss to Virginia Tech. This game will be broadcast on ABC.

Here’s today’s entire schedule:
