A Visitors Guide to SLC

Hello Bruins,

RavenousUte from Block U

Just wanted to give you guys some spots to hit if you are coming to Salt Lake City for the game next week. Most of this will be mostly my opinions but I am sure other Ute faithful with add in with their suggestions. I'll try to keep most of my recommendations within walking distance of the Trax (light rail).

If you are flying in Friday night and want a late bite I recommend the The Green Pig Pub good food and popular spot for Utes. You can also get a bite to eat at Squatters which is a brew pub with decent food. Squatters is a good place to stock up on high percentage beer for the tailgate at Squatters. If you just want to grab something to eat back at your hotel, for fast food I recommend Crown Burgers and get the Crown Burger with it's in-house pastrami. We also have a Hires Big H, if you are a fan of Hires Root Beer.

If you are really craving Mexican, the place to go is Red Iguana, though I'm sure you get better Mexican in California, (at least I did in San Diego). If you are looking for some Jewish fare or just really good sandwiches, I recommend Feldman's Deli, SLC's only Jewish Deli.

I highly recommend you start out Saturday morning with breakfast at The Other Place and have one of their awesome omelettes. The Other Place is a Greek-American restaurant, (Salt Lake City has lots of Greeks due to the influx with Union Pacific).

Again for real beer for tailgating you will want to hit one our local breweries like Squatters. If you want wine or liquor the local liquor store starts selling at 12 noon. Ask the sales people about our local distillery products.

For your tailgating pleasure I recommend you contact Utah Pig Bus, and let them know you are coming they will make sure to have plenty of food on hand.

Finally if you spend the night Saturday and want an inexpensive Sunday Brunch, Market Street Grill has brunch plates starting at $6.99 as well as mimosas, bloody marys and Irish coffee.
