Well, to no one’s surprise, the Houston Cougars were thumped by the Oklahoma Sooners, 49-31, last night and, frankly, it wasn’t as close as the score indicates. That leaves just one game left in Week 1 of the 2019 college football season and it should be an interesting game.
Tonight, the #9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish play the Louisville Cardinals.
It will be the first game for new Louisville head coach Scott Satterfield. Satterfield joins the Cardinals after spending the last six seasons as the head coach at Appalachian State. In his first season at Appalachian State, Satterfield was 4-8. The Mountaineers improved to 7-5 in his second season and, then, they won nine games or more in each of the next four seasons.
He is taking over a Louisville team which won just two games last season. So, even a 4-8 season would be an improvement for the Cardinals, who were just 2-8 last season under Bobby Petrino.
Meanwhile, the Fighting Irish finished the regular season 12-0 last year and were one of the four teams selected to play in the College Football Playoff. Notre Dame lost to Clemson in the CFP semifinal, 30-3.
Considering how these two teams finished last season, it should be an easy win for the Fighting Irish.
This is your College Football Monday open thread.
