College Football Saturday: Can Undefeated Virginia Upset #10 Notre Dame?

While the 9 am games may be blowouts, there are some really good 12:30 pm games on tap today.

It’s Saturday again! That means more college football.

Today’s games start off with a pair of games featuring Top 10 teams. On Fox at 9 am PT, the #6 Oklahoma Sooners host the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The Red Raiders lost their last game to the Arizona Wildcats, who the UCLA Bruins play tonight, and the Wildcats under Kevin Sumlin don’t appear to be a very good football team. So, look for another Sooner blowout.

Speaking of Wildcats that aren’t very good, the Northwestern Wildcats travel today to face the #8 Wisconsin Badgers at 9 am PT on ABC. Like the Oklahoma game, this will probably also be a blowout.

This afternoon’s games should be better.

The #1 Clemson Tigers head north to Chapel Hill this afternoon for a game against the North Carolina Tar Heels at 12:30 pm on ABC. While UNC started the season off with a pair of wins against South Carolina and Miami, they’ve lost their last two to Wake Forest and Appalachian State. So, the results under Mack Brown have been mixed so far. This one shouldn’t be that close.

Meanwhile, over on NBC, the #10 Notre Dame Fighting Irish host the #18 Virginia Cavaliers. If the Irish were on the road, I’d suggest that the undefeated Cavaliers would take this and they still might. While this game may be a very good one, Bruin fans will likely prefer to watch the other 12:30 game between Top 25 teams because it features the #21 Southern Cal Trojans. Of course, that means UCLA fans other favorite team today is the #17 Washington Huskies.

This game should be a good battle. Let’s just hope the bad guys lose.

Here’s today’s full slate of games:
