UCLA to take on Kentucky on Dec. 19 in CBS Sports Classic

The Wildcats and Bruins will be the second act of a star-studded double-header on CBS

NCAA Basketball: UCLA at Colorado Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The UCLA Bruins have a confirmed game on their 2020-21 basketball schedule, taking on the Kentucky Wildcats in the CBS Sports Classic on December 19.

The game time has also been announced, and will be the second game of a doubleheader on the 19th.

The Bruins will face Kentucky after the North Carolina Tar Heels play the Ohio State Buckeyes at 2:00 pm ET. The doubleheader will take place at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio.

This announced matchup is important for multiple reasons — and intriguing for a handful of others.

Important because this is a matchup between the two schools with the most NCAA Division I national championships — UCLA, of course, leading the way with 11, and Kentucky with eight.

The duo have split the CBS Sports Classic games, 1-1, and UCLA has a chance to even the record versus Kentucky as the Wildcats currently have the all-time series lead at 8-7.

It’s also important as this game could potentially mark the ‘return’ of UCLA basketball as last year’s team is intact, and KENTUCKY-TRANSFER himself Johnny Juzang is perfectly set up with a Cinderella-esque matchup against his former team.

Also important because it means the Bruins are on the right path towards an exciting brand of basketball matched up with national powers, with a team that can compete.

This will be the first time that UCLA and Kentucky have played since December of 2017.
