What’s Bruin, 12/10: Bruins lose commit David Aupiu to Notre Dame

Aupiu flipped his commitment to the Irish just days ahead of the Early Signing Day

The UCLA Bruins lost a commitment just a week ahead of the Early Signing Day period coming to a close as three-star defensive end Devin Aupiu flipped his commitment from the Bruins to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Aupiu is a three-star player from Oxnard, California and Pacifica High School, standing 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds. He ranked on the 247Sports Composite as the 34th-best outside linebacker in the country and the 38th-best player in California, according to 247Sports.

Word is that he’ll be enrolling early in the winter at Notre Dame as the Irish are ranked No. 2 in the country and are looking to finish up an undefeated season during their first-ever season in the ACC.

It’s interesting to note that his commitment gives Notre Dame just their third defensive end prospect to commit for this class, joining Jason Onye and Will Schweitzer as Aupiu is just the fourth Californian to head to South Bend.

Here’s more from his talking about his commitment to the Irish over UCLA.
