The UCLA Bruins are facing off against a newly-scheduled opponent today, as the Ohio State Buckeyes present a potential resume-boosting addition to the Bruins 2020-21 basketball schedule. Originally scheduled to take on the Kentucky Wildcats, Ohio State has replaced Kentucky and actually presents a more challenging and also potentially strengthening opponent for UCLA.
Both teams stand at 5-1 on the season and OSU ranks No. 20/19 in the top 25 polls whereas the Wildcats had disappointed early this season.
The Bruins have won five in a row and will take on OSU at approximately 1:15 pm PT. This game marks the seventh straight appearance in the CBS Sports Classic for UCLA and the Bruins are 2-4 lifetime in the event. One of those victories did come against Ohio State back in 2016 in Las Vegas.
Tyger Campbell is currently leading the Pac-12 by averaging 7.2 assists per game, nearly two full assists better than the next closest player in the conference. Head coach Mick Cronin’s team has been extremely well-disciplined this year and has even committed fewer fouls than their opponents in every single game to date.
Jaime Jaquez, Chris Smith and Campbell are each averaging double-digit points per game this season while Smith and big-man Jalen Hill are averaging over 7.0 rebounds a contest.
This team is starting to gel and you can bet more voters will start looking closer at the Bruins if they can dominate against this Buckeyes team.
