UCLA Softball: Bruins Remain Undefeated Beating Texas A&M, 9-1

The Bruins steamrolled Texas A&M. 9-1, in a six-inning run rule victory in their Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic Opener.

Megan Faraimo (7-0, 0.80 ERA) pitched UCLA to a six-inning, 10K victory while yielding a single home run in the 3rd.

Coach Kelly Inouye-Perez used her best lineup with Delanie Wisz (1-2 R, 2RBI, HR) Kinsley Washington (2-4, 2R), Briana Perez (2-3, 2R, RBI, BB), Seneca Curo (0-2) and Alyssa Garcia (0-3) in the infield. Kelli Godin (1-2, BB), Maya Brady (0-3) and Aaliyah Jordan (3-4, 2R, 4RBI, HR) in the outfield. Jenavee Peres (3-3, 2R, 2RBI, HR) continues to perform as the designated player.

The Bruin offense (.444, 9R, 9RBI, 3BB) scored 5 runs in the 1st inning with 2 run homers by Jordan and Wisz chasing TAMU starter Peyton McBride (1 inning, 5R). They scored 4 more runs off reliever Ashley Daugherty (5 innings) to complete the mercy rule victory. The upperclasswomen (11-16, 9R, 9RBI) accounted for all of the offense as the freshmen struggled at the plate (0-8). Garcia was again impressive behind the plate and has become adept at framing pitches.
