The Maxwell Award announced its preseason watch list members, landing squarely on five Pac-12 quarterbacks to be on the shortlist for the prestigious award. UCLA Bruins QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson was one of those, as he was selected with USC QB Kedon Slovis, Utah QB Jake Bentley, Arizona State QB Jayden Daniels and Stanford QB Davis Mills.

DTR is the most Pac-12 seasoned of those quarterbacks as Bentley has transferred from South Carolina and the rest of them have played just a season’s worth of action in the conference.

His inclusion is also joined by Washington State’s Max Borghi and the Oregon duo of Penei Sewell and CJ Verdell.

The Maxwell Award honors the nation’s best all-around athlete and is handed out by the Maxwell Football Club. It’s voted on by members of the MFC as well as sportscasters, sportswriters and the National Collegiate Athletic Association head coaches. It’ll be presented at the Home Depot College Football Awards show later this year.

Gary Beban is the only UCLA player to win the award, bringing home the trophy back in 1967.

DTR threw for 2,700 yards a season ago and a 21:12 touchdown-to-interception ratio while also rushing for another 505 yards and four scores. For his career, he now has thrown for 4,008 yards and 28 touchdowns while chipping in with 711 yards and those four touchdowns on the ground.
