The Fourth of July holiday weekend takes on new meaning for a ton of the country this year as the rise in COVID-19 cases in states that have reopened have come at the time of the nation’s birthday. A weekend that usually includes mass gatherings, public displays of exploding fireworks and get-togethers with family and friends will now likely be cancelled.
While most of those things will be severely altered in the year 2020, one thing is for sure, 2020 is only halfway over and we can do better in the second half of the season.
As for yours truly at Bruins Nation, the Fourth of July weekend also coincides with my lone vacation planned for this year. It’s been go-go-go since we started at SB Nation after the passing of the AB-5 law earlier this year and with sports still tentatively scheduled to begin this fall, this next week is the perfect time to hit the reset button and come back in a week’s time with some fresh ideas and new content as we prepare for the 2020 fall schedule.
I’ll still be around if anything newsworthy breaks, as will a few members of the extended SB Nation team. Always have to have yours bases covered after all.
But for now until July 12, you can find me on a pool float, tequila in hand.
So, from my family to yours, Bruins Nation, have a happy July 4th weekend, stay safe, wear a mask and come back ready to go the week after next!
