According to a report from ESPN, LaVar Ball has pulled his son LiAngelo Ball out of UCLA. Meanwhile, TMZ first broke the news saying that LaVar had “removed” his son from UCLA following LiAngelo’s indefinite suspension from the UCLA Bruins men’s basketball team.
The TMZ report appears to have more details than the ESPN story. TMZ writes:
LaVar believes the suspension was unfair, especially since the charges were dropped. LaVar's people tell TMZ Sports the famous dad thinks, "There's no need to break down a kid's spirit for making a mistake."
Our sources say LiAngelo is not officially withdrawn from the school but he's at home and will not return to UCLA.
The article adds:
A family spokesperson added LiAngelo and Lavar appreciate UCLA for everything...despite the circumstances that led to the suspension.
This is sad for LiAngelo because he had an opportunity to prove that he deserved to return to the UCLA basketball team while also showing that he is his own man. That will likely never happen now.
But, with that, I think it’s pretty safe to say that the circus that is LaVar Ball is finished at UCLA as I don’t believe that LaMelo will ever put on a Bruin uniform either due to this or the fact that Melo’s shoe will probably result in him being ruled ineligible by the NCAA. Or, both.
Obviously, this story is developing and we will have more info as soon as it’s available, but, for now, there’s only one thing left for us to say and we say it to LaVar, expecting that neither LiAngelo nor LaMelo will never wear a Bruin uniform:
“So long, Chief!”
