With tonight’s game against the UC Berkeley Golden Bears being the UCLA Bruins’ last of the 2019 season, let’s check in on the last few media sessions of the year from this week.
First up is Chip Kelly, who held his final pre-game interview session on Wednesday. He didn’t really say anything of note in this session. At the same time, when asked what he was thankful for this year, he replied “The weather.” Of course, that’s a joke about the fact that it was raining on Wednesday. And, you didn’t really expect him to say that he’s thankful to have a job that pays him millions of dollars each year while he loses more games than he wins, did you?
On Tuesday, Johnny Den Bleyker and Stephan Blaylock spoke after practice.
Den Bleyker spoke about what this week’s game means to him as a senior. He mentioned how he will have a lot of friends and family at the game this weekend and what he’s thinking about in his future. Specifically, he mentioned that he wants to go into coaching if things don’t work out with the NFL for him.
Meanwhile, Blaylock mentioned how a win today will send the seniors off strong and set up the future for the team moving forward.
After practice on Wednesday, Christaphany Murray and Boss Tagaloa spoke to the media.
Murray discussed going up against UC Berkeley linebacker Evan Weaver, who leads the nation in tackles with 164. He also discussed how he’s learned to be a man the past two seasons. At the same time, he was looking forward to spending Thanksgiving back home in the OC and getting some of his mom’s peach cobbler.
The last pre-game word of the season goes to senior Boss Tagaloa. Tagaloa admitted that he didn’t know that Joshua Kelley is just 16 yards from having another 1,000-yard season, but he mentioned how great a guy Kelley is and that he wants the best for him because of how hard he works.
He ended with a laugh about Otito Ogbonnia’s cooking and how he’s going to make some girl really happy with his cooking.
That wraps up the final Spaulding Report for 2019. Hopefully, the Bruins can close the season out with a win over UC Berkeley later today.
Go Bruins!!!
