UNlike yesterday, when there was a full slate of college football games, there are only two games today. One of them is, obviously, our game. The other is the West Virginia vs. Virginia Tech game. Unfortunately, both games kickoff at 4:30 pm PT.
So, there’s obviously only one game for Bruin fans to watch today.
Keys to the Game
After pathetic performance of the offense for just about all of last season, today is the first test for new offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch and the new offense. As a result of that, the three keys for UCLA all have to do with the team’s offense.
- Keep Josh Rosen upright. The offensive line needs to execute in order for the Bruins to win today and that starts by preventing John Chavis’ aggressive defense from sacking the Bruin quarterback.
- Establish the running game by controlling the line of scrimmage. As gbruin is fond of saying, “Line wins games.” So, after keeping Josh Rosen upright, their second goal and the second key to the game has to be controlling the line of scrimmage in order to open holes for Bolu Olorunfunmi and the rest of the running backs to run through.
- Keep the punter off the field. If you read last my Sunday Morning QB article last week, this was a no-brainer. The goal here is to punt five times or less. If UCLA can do this, it means that they are moving the ball well enough to win the game and the best defense is, after all, a good offense.
Here’s how to watch, listen and stream today’s game.
