UCLA Men's & Women's Basketball Finish 2015 in the Top-25

Both UCLA basketball teams hold down top-25 spots in the final AP Poll of 2015 while UCLA Men's Volleyball lands at #5 in the AVCA Coaches Preseason Poll.

In spite of an underwhelming performance against McNeese State last week, UCLA Men's Basketball claimed the last spot in the top-25 of the final AP Poll of 2015. It's the Bruins' second entry into the top-25 this season. The previous visit lasted just one week.

UCLA remains just outside of the top-25 in the most recent USA Today Coaches Poll. The Bruins' 20 points put them 28th nationally.

Only two Pac-12 teams are ranked higher than UCLA in the AP Poll: Arizona at #8 and Utah at #21.

Meanwhile UCLA Women's Basketball dropped two spots in the latest AP Poll after losing to then #21 California in double overtime. The Bruins are now 21st-ranked in the AP Poll behind four Pac-12 foes: Oregon State at #10, Stanford at #11, Arizona State at #17, and California at #19.

UCLA is still on the verge of entering the USA Today Coaches Poll with 44 points--good for 26th place.

After grinding out a hard-fought victory over UC Riverside on Monday, #21 UCLA opens Pac-12 play tonight against #26 Southern Cal before hosting #31 Oregon on Saturday.

UCLA Men's Volleyball begins its 2016 campaign on Sunday with an exhibition game against British Columbia. The Bruins are ranked fifth in the preseason AVCA Coaches Poll behind three MPSF opponents: BYU is the top-ranked team in the nation, UC Irvine is ranked second, and Long Beach State is ranked fourth. Two more MPSF teams (Hawai'i and UC Santa Barbara) are ranked in the preseason top-10.

Coach Speraw has recruited a lot of very talented players in the past three years, and he finally has an elite setter. This should prove to be a very exciting season for UCLA volleyball.
