UCLA Football Finally Gets 100-Yard Practice Fields...For Now

It's a temporary situation but the move from Spaulding Field to the IM Field has already yielded one benefit to UCLA football. The practice fields are now 100 yards long.

Spaulding Field will be closed all season as construction begins on the Wasserman Football Center.

It may be temporary while the Wasserman Football Center is being constructed, but the UCLA Football team will finally have full-size practice fields to practice on.

The team is relocating this fall from Spaulding Field to the IM Field as construction begins on the new Wasserman Football Center.

Based on photos posted on Twitter by Matt Joye of the Daily Bruin and confirmed by him to Bruins Nation, the fields are regulation-length. Joye also tells us that the use of the IM field by the football team is not expected to impact the ability of IM Sports to use the IM field.

For years, many Bruin fans, as well as the Daily Bruin, have felt that the 80 yard fields at Spaulding hinder preparation due to the smaller field sizes.

Well, at least, for now, that problem has been solved, albeit temporarily.

Go Bruins!!!
