2013 UCLA Football Fall Camp - Additional Day 5 (PM) Notes: The Battle at the “Y” & Other Notes

Let's pile on Menelaus's extensive morning notes. Ralph Irvin has a good interview with senior WR Shaq Evans:

Evans talked about the depth at WR and going up against our young, but talented DBs. I liked Ralph's questions in this interview as his questions to Shaq were a little more open-ended. Elsewhere:

  • ICYMI EV didn't partake in team drills because of a "sore back." I am hoping it's not big deal but Mora mentioned that "every day he doesn't practice, it bothers me," adding that the Bruins need Eddie "to contribute," and that he believes Eddie is "capable of contributing if he gets the practice time." Chris Foster blogged about it in the LAT and it's something we need to keep an eye on.
  • Andrew Erickson from the Daily Bruin has a post on "3 key position battles to watch" for this week which includes the fight for time at the Y spot among true freshman Thomas Duarte, redshirt senior Darius Bell (who is dealing with a hand injury this camp) and converted RS freshmen Nate Iese (moving over from DE).
  • And speaking of Duarte here is Wang's interview with the true freshman who is a "potential spark" at the Y. Both Duarte and Bell had nice things to say about each other.

That will have to do for today. If you were out there today, share your notes in this thread.

GO BRUINS.
