After last week’s loss to Washington State, UCLA remains a program with more questions than answers.
Can UCLA get it together in time to beat Utah? I’m not sure. Utah has a top-notch defense to go along with a good offense. This game looks to be a defensive battle. If UCLA can finally establish the run, they should win. If not, well, let’s say it’s a lot like the pass blocking of the offensive line: "Look out!"
Keys To The Game
1. Find the End Zone
The most obvious key to a game ever returns for the second straight week. Given the fact that the offense has been anemic and could be without starting quarterback Josh Rosen, it is the biggest key to the game. Frankly, it doesn’t really matter how the team does it. It could be on offense or defense. If the Bruins can’t get into the end zone, it’s going to be a long night.
2. Run the Ball
UCLA needs to rush for more than 50 yards if they want to win this game. The problem is that no one knows if they can. Will the adjustments the coaching staff has made to the running game actually pay off? Personally, I’m not so sure. I think Jim Mora would have been better off replacing his run game coordinator.
3. Play to Win, Not to Not Lose
Kyle Whittingham consistently shows that he plays to win. it’s reflected in his game management. Can Jim Mora do the same? That may be the ultimate key to victory for UCLA.
