UCLA Bruins Trail Washington State Cougars at the Half, 35-17

The Bruin offense has been...better, but UCLA’s defense hasn’t been.

This game started well for the Bruins. On the third play from scrimmage, UCLA linebacker Josh Woods intercepted an Anthony Gordon pass to give the Bruins the ball on the Washington State 29-yard line,

Dorian Thompson-Robinson completed a 15-yard pass to Kyle Philips and then a 14-yard pass to Joshua Kelley to give UCLA an early 7-0 lead.

But the Washington State Cougars ran nine plays in less than three minutes to tie it up, 7-7, when Easop Winston Jr. caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from Gordon.

JJ Molson kicked a 31-yard field goal to put UCLA ahead at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter was all Washington State as the Cougars scored four touchdowns. The Bruins were only able to get one TD on a 100-yard kickoff return by Demetric Felton in the second quarter. Felton’s touchdown was almost called back due to someone on the UCLA sideline getting in the side judge’s way as he moved down the field. Thankfully, the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty was enforced on the ensuing kickoff.

It could be argued that the penalty cost UCLA a Wazzou TD since the Cougs started their next drive on their own 40 and they moved the ball 60 yards for their third TD of the second quarter.

The Bruins almost scored at the end of the half as Bruin quarterback threw up a Hail Mary that was tipped and caught by Chase Cota for a 61-yard gain, but Cota couldn’t get into the end zone and it is 35-17 Washington State at the half.

This season, we are proud to, again, have today’s audio feed for everyone who opts to use the TuneIn player embedded below. For optimum results at home, start the audio feed then pause your DVR and sync them up together so you don’t have to listen to the ESPN broadcast team of Beth Mowins, Anthony Becht, and Rocky Boiman if you don’t want to. Personally, I can’t stand listening to Mowins. I find her really irritating. So, I’ll be doing this tonight.

Editor’s Note: There seems to be an issue with the embedded player working properly tonight. You can click on the TuneIn logo to open another tab to hear tonight’s radio broadcast.
