Fresno State Bulldogs at UCLA Bruins Game Thread

The Bruins welcome the Bulldogs to the Rose Bowl this evening.

If you’re measuring the success of the Bruins by the team’s win-loss record, the start of the Chip Kelly era hasn’t been good. But, if you’re simply looking for improvement from one game to the next, then the team is clearly making progress.

Sooner or later, that progress needs to result in a win for the Bruins.

Tonight’s game presents one of the best opportunities for the team’s progress to result in a win, but it won’t be easy. Fresno State will be looking to come into the Rose Bowl and beat a Bruin team that has struggled through two games so far this season.

As I mentioned in my Keys to the Game, whichever team makes fewer mistakes is likely to win. That means that the question that the Bruins need to answer is: “Can they avoid making some of the mistakes that have plagued UCLA so far this season?”

If the answer is yes, then this game should end up in the win column.

Let’s look at the game time weather forecast.

Game Time Weather Forecast

The weather in Pasadena is frequently referred to as a “Chamber of Commerce day”. Well, if there’s such a thing as a “Chamber of Commerce night,” it would be tonight.

It should be near perfect weather for tonight’s game. At kickoff, it should be a comfortable 77° with a low relative humidity under 38% and no chance of rain. Look for it to cool off a little throughout the course of the game.

The temperature should drop to about 74° by halftime and to about 71° by the end of the game.

This season, we are proud to, again, have today’s audio feed for everyone who opts to use the TuneIn player embedded below. For optimum results at home, start the audio feed then pause your DVR and sync them up together so you don’t have to listen to the Fox Sports 1 broadcast team. I highly recommend this today because today’s crew includes Petros Papadakis. To me, he’s like nail on a chalkboard every time he opens his mouth. Maybe it’s because he was a Trojan, but I think it’s just the sound of his voice.
