Yesterday, UCLA’s defense was lacking and, sure enough, the Bruins lost to Creighton, 100-89. Because of that, UCLA now plays the Wisconsin Badgers in the Hall of Fame Classic Consolation Game.
Wisconsin lost their semifinal game to the Baylor Bears yesterday, 70-65. In the two regular season games that the Badgers have won, they scored 85 points in one and 89 in the other. But, in the two games they lost, they scored 70 points or less.
The Badgers are led by Ethan Happ who is the only starter who returns from last season. The rest of Wisconsin’s starting five are sophomores and juniors who didn’t start last season. The Badgers’ guards D'Mitrik Trice and Brevin Pritzl were both averaging 12 points per game going into last night’s game against Baylor.
Under head coach Greg Guard, Wisconsin is 28-2 when shooting at least 45% from the field and they are 37-4 when holding opponents to a less than 45% FG percentage. So, the Bruins will not only need to score but also hold the Badgers on defense, which, after yesterday, appears to be much easier said than done.
