Tonight, the UCLA Bruins host their second game of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational at home in Pauley Pavilion at 8 pm PT when the Presbyterian Blue Hose come to town.
Since Presbyterian College is a small liberal arts college located in Clinton, South Carolina most of you probably aren’t particularly familiar with the school. Enrollment at the school last year was fewer than 1,300 students.
Originally, the school’s sports teams were known as the Blue Stockings, which was frequently shortened to “Hose” in newspaper headlines. Eventually, the student body officially adopted Blue Hose as the school’s official nickname in the 1950s.
The school’s most notable alumni include Harry S. Dent, who served as an advisor to US Senator Strom Thurmond and President Richard Nixon, and current US Senator Tim Scott.
