This evening, there’s a Turkey Day Basketball feast for you on Fox Sports 1. For starters, the Texas Longhorns and North Carolina Tar Heels are currently playing. Then, at 7pm, the #17 UCLA Bruins are scheduled to tip off against #11 Michigan State Spartans. Please keep in mind that the start of the Bruins game could be delayed a little if the Texas-UNC game goes long.
The result of tonight’s UCLA will determine which team from the earlier game they will play tomorrow. If the Bruins win, they face the winner of the Texas-UNC game. If Michigan State wins, UCLA will face the loser of the Texas-UNC game.
As DCBruins points out in his preview of tonight’s game, this game will be a match-up between a team with a lot of talent (UCLA) vs. a team with a lot of experience (Michigan State), but it’s also more than that. It’s also a match-up between a coach in Tom Izzo who has taken his team to the Final Four seven times, has had his team finish as the runner-up once and won one national championship and a coach in Steve Alford who has never made it past the Sweet Sixteen. So, the Spartans definitely have an edge when it comes to coaching.
And, that alone may prove to be the difference tonight.
